ITHACA, N.Y. — The gods will be visiting Central New York again this spring at the sixth annual “A Taste of Greece in Ithaca” Greek festival at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 120 West Seneca Street in downtown Ithaca.
The festival begins Friday, May 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. and continues Saturday, May 11 from noon to 8 p.m. or until sold out.
Authentic Greek cuisine including gyro, pastitsio, spanakopita, dolmathes, and more will be available for purchase. A variety of homemade Greek pastries will also be available, like baklava and loukoumathes, or honey puffs. Baklava sundaes are new on the menu this year. There will also be Greek items for sale in the gift shop and tours of the historic church throughout the day Saturday.
“We’re so proud to share our Greek culture, food, and hospitality with the local community once again this year,” said Sophia King, festival chairperson.
The church’s women’s group, or Philoptochos Society, hosts two popular Greek bake sales each year at Christmas and Easter. The church’s community kitchen and social hall is available for rent for receptions, classes, and other events.
