Handwork is a cooperative shop owned and staffed by over 40 artisans, located in downtown Ithaca just off the commons. Handwork began in 1976 with 12 local craftspeople and to this day carries a wide range of work with a strong emphasis on locally made art. Their three rooms showcase the area’s finest pottery, woodworking, glass, jewelry, fiber arts, dried florals, paper, fine art and photography. Handwork was recently mentioned as one of the top 10 places to buy handmade crafts in the country by USAToday.com.
Handwork donates 5% of its net profit each year to community medical and food programs, as well as art education. The Handwork Art Fund was established in 2014 with a mission to support a student who is interested in pursuing a career in craft or visual art.
