ITHACA, N.Y. – On Saturday, March 9, the Cornell Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will host an immersive engineering day for local female high school students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The event will feature hands-on engineering activities, tours of Cornell Engineering laboratories and manufacturing spaces, and conversations with professors and current students.
The event will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Cornell Engineering campus in Ithaca. This event is a great opportunity for students looking to learn more about an education or career in engineering. Interested students should register for the event using the form on the Cornell SWE website under “Outreach.”
The Cornell SWE section is devoted to promoting women in engineering by advocating the importance of diversity and by uniting resources to encourage academic, leadership, professional, and personal excellence for the entire engineering community. Cornell SWE hosts dozens of other outreach events every year at the Ithaca Science Center, Tompkins County Public Libraries, and local schools. For the last several years, the section has been recognized as a gold-level section by the national organization among other national and local honors.
