UPDATE (12:19 p.m. Wednesday) — New York State Police have identified the man killed as Michael S. English.

DRYDEN, N.Y. — A Dryden man who was walking along Turkey Hill Road in Dryden was killed after being struck by a car Tuesday night.

The crash occurred at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 in the area of Turkey Hill Road near Stevenson Road, according to New York State Police. A 54-year-old man, identified as Michael S. English, of Dryden, was walking along the north side of the road pushing a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle operated by a 25-year-old Ithaca woman who was also traveling north, police said.

Varna Fire and Rescue were on scene when state police arrived administering CPR, but police said the man died of his injuries.

Police say an initial investigation shows the man was walking in the lane of travel left of the “fog line,” or the white line on the side of the road. Police said the road was also not lit in the area he was walking and he was wearing dark clothes. The woman stopped immediately and is cooperating with investigators, police say.

No tickets have been issued yet as the investigation is ongoing.
