ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca’s coolest festival this weekend brought thousands of visitors to the Ithaca Commons to enjoy chowder, sip on beverages from the ice bar and watch champion ice carvers sculpt masterpieces.

On Friday, spectators got to see a speed carving competition which set the stage for the main sculpting event Saturday. Throughout the day Saturday, carvers created dramatic displays using two large blocks of ice. In addition to the sculpting, there were carolers and other performers during the day.

The ice sculptures were still on display Sunday in and around the Ithaca Commons so check them out before they melt away.
