ITHACA, N.Y. – Crews are working to repair a water main break on the 1000 block of West State Street, slowing traffic out of Ithaca. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes west out of Ithaca to minimize delays.
One-lane travel is expected during parts of the work, which may continue until Tuesday. Excavation will impact the westbound lane and road shoulder on West State Street just east of the bridge over the Cayuga Inlet, between Brindley Street and Floral Avenue.
The water main break was reported around 1:45 p.m. Monday. As of 4:30 p.m., water service was restored to all but three properties. Service is expected to be fully restored by 8 p.m. Water may be temporarily discolored; residents can call 607-272-1717 to report discoloration and request a crew to flush out mains.
