UPDATE (8:54 a.m.) — The suspect’s gray Dodge Caravan was towed Tuesday night. The passenger in the vehicle was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to Trooper Aga Dembinska, public information officer for New York State Police Troop C. State police have declined to release the passenger’s name yet.

ENFIELD, N.Y. — New York State Police are searching for a suspect but struck a vehicle and fled into a wooded area Tuesday in Enfield. Police are asking the public for any information that might help the investigation.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, state police troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop on Enfield Main Road in the Town of Enfield, but the driver failed to comply, struck a another vehicle and fled into a wooded area, police said.

A passenger in the suspect’s vehicle is currently detained, police said. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for minor injuries.

Anyone with information that witnessed the crash or saw anyone leaving the area is asked to call 607-347-4441.
