LANSING, N.Y. — The bicyclist that died in a collision Wednesday in Lansing has been identified as 74-year-old Karl R. Wolfe.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies responded to a crash involving a bicycle and commercial vehicle. The sheriff’s office confirmed Thursday that the bicyclist had died.

In an update early Friday, the sheriff’s office said Wolfe, of Lansing, was southbound in the shoulder of North Triphammer Road when he entered the southbound lane and was struck by a commercial vehicle.

Wolfe was transported by Bangs Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center, where he later died of injuries sustained in the crash. The sheriff’s office said they are continuing the investigation. No charges have been filed yet and the operator of the commercial truck has not been identified.

The Lansing Fire Department and New York State Police also assisted on the scene.
