ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police are investigating a stabbing believed to have taken place in the Jungle area behind Walmart.

At around 6 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a stabbing victim who had fled into Walmart. Police found the person and rendered medical aid. The person was transported to a regional trauma center for treatment.

Police said they believe the incident took place in the Jungle, the homeless encampment south of Walmart. Police are investigating the incident but said they do not believe it was a random act of violence.
