ITHACA, N.Y. — J.T. Stone is a contributor for The Ithaca Voice and a current junior at Ithaca High School.
Background: Ever since middle school I’ve loved reporting on entertainment news for my friends and family, which pushed me to start my own email newsletter, Fun Fact of the Day, during my freshman year of high school. I wrote daily reports on celebrity drama, viral Internet trends and challenges, and award ceremonies, along with my own album, TV show, and movie reviews. After a year of promoting Fun Fact of the Day at IHS, I was proud to have drawn over 500 readers to my newsletter.
Although writing daily email reports became stressful, I constantly received feedback on how to improve my writing and reporting, which strengthened my interest in journalism, as well as my overall writing ability and confidence. As an aspiring journalist, I’m proud to serve the Ithaca area and I hope to share my writing with the rest of the community.

Favorite Ithaca meal: Thompson and Bleecker on the Ithaca Commons. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is refreshing, and their Neapolitan-style pizzas are to die for.
Favorite way to spend a Friday night in Ithaca: I’m usually out with friends, either watching new movies at the Ithaca Mall or exploring the Commons. Otherwise I’m watching celebrity interviews on YouTube or going out to dinner with my parents.
Fun fact: Along with my work at The Ithaca Voice, I also host and produce my own series on WRFI Community Radio, “Youth Voices,” in which I give local students a platform to share their thoughts on topics they’re passionate about with the Ithaca community.
