ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police are searching for a suspect that robbed a delivery driver Friday night in Downtown Ithaca.

Officers responded to a reported robbery at about 11:35 p.m. Friday. Police say a delivery driver was flagged down by a man who said he needed help and asked for money around the 100 block of West Green Street.

As the driver took out their wallet and began looking for cash, the suspect told them to give up their whole wallet. The suspect then tried to reach into the delivery driver’s car and grab the wallet. Police say an “altercation ensued, in which the victim was bitten and punched.”

The suspect, who police describe as a black man, thin, about 5 feet, 10 inches, wearing a red long sleeve button-down shirt, was able to get away with the driver’s wallet containing cash and credit cards.
