TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. — A 16-year-old from Ulysses was sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years of probation for sexually abusing a young child.
Elijah R. Gumaer, of Ulysses, pleaded guilty in July to first-degree sexual abuse.
He was arrested after an incident Feb. 21, in which he admitted to taking off his clothes and pulling down a child’s underwear and touching her inappropriately, according to court records. Gumaer admitted to subjecting the same child to sexual contact before, court records stated.
Gumaer was sentenced Thursday by Judge Joseph Cassidy.
The court rejected youth offender adjudication, records state.
