Tompkins County Genealogy Society.

ITHACA, N.Y. — For local residents interested in digging into their family history, the Tompkins County Genealogy Society is hosting its second meeting next week.

The society was formed this summer after there was local interest in building a network and making resources available. Some of the goals of the society are to create a local network for citizens, highlight local resources, and help people learn more about researching their family histories.

The first organizational meeting took place in June to discuss goals, and the second will include speakers to discuss genealogy and local resources.

Speakers will include Rosemarie Tucker, Groton Town Historian, Fred Howe, amateur genealogist and Wayne Thurston, a specialist on cemeteries.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 in the Borg Warner Room East in the Tompkins County Public Library.

The event is hosted by the Tompkins County Public Library and the History Center in Tompkins County.
