ITHACA, N.Y. — What kid doesn’t want to ride a fire truck?

At the upcoming 25th Annual Kids Day, hosted by the Ithaca Professional Firefighters Association, kids can enjoy fire truck rides, fire extinguisher demonstrations, a fire safety obstacle course and spraying a fire hose. Firefighters will be there to answer questions about fire safety in the home and demonstrate the tools they use, like Jaws of Life, thermal imaging cameras and rope rescue equipment.

The event will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at Stewart Park. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 19.

There will be hot dogs until they’re gone, and the first 100 kids there will get a free T-shirt. There will also fire helmets and balloons to go around, as well as school supplies.

“Hundreds of families attend the summer tradition, and the firefighters look forward to spending the day with the people they protect. This event is free to the community, so mark your calendars and bring the entire family down to Kids Day,” the Ithaca Professional Firefighters Association said in a news release.
