TRUMANSBURG, NY — The incomparable singer-songwriter, Valerie June, shares stories about her creative journey before taking the grandstand stage at the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance.

June said she has been a songwriter since she was a little girl.

“When I was a little girl, I started to write songs not knowing that I was writing songs,” June said. “I’d just be playing and I would hear beautiful voices singing me songs — about frogs, rainbows, all kinds of things. And as I hear the voices, I start singing along with them, kind of like you sing along with the radio.”
