ITHACA, N.Y. — Here’s a little positive news to start your day. Members of the Ithaca Fire Department helped free a dog from a metal chair Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to a house in the Town of Ithaca to help a young Labrador mix named Lichi on Tuesday. Somehow the dog had got its leg wedged tightly into one of the chair’s decorative metal bars and couldn’t get out.

The dog’s owner tried to keep the dog in a comfortable position. The Ithaca Fire Department also said they spoke with Cornell Companion Hospital staff who recommended covering the dog’s head with a towel to keep it calm while they cut the bar with bolt cutters.

The dog was successfully extracted and brought to Cornell to check for further injuries.
