TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. — The Tompkins County Gun Buyback Event is this coming weekend, June 9th, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It will be held at the Airport Fire and Rescue building, 72 Brown Road, Ithaca, NY.

On April 17th, The Tompkins County Legislature, by unanimous vote (Legislator Glenn Morey was excused), passed a resolution of support for a Gun Buyback Event, proposed by Sheriff Ken Lansing and District Attorney Matt Van Houten.

This is similar to gun buyback events held in past years. This event is designed for people who want to dispose of unwanted guns, in a safe and secure environment, for a variety of reasons; which will decrease the likelihood of situations where guns are lost or left unsecured.
