ITHACA, N.Y. — An event all about children packed with games, snacks and free activities is planned for Wednesday in Stewart Park.

The Child Development Council presents “Playdate in the Park” as a gift to the community. There will be free carousel rides, healthy snacks, giveaways and activities.

“It is an example of unlocking the potential in young children and their families through education and play,” the Child Development Council said in a news release. “It reflects who we are as an organization: one that values play and its importance to the development of young children; one that values the parents/caregivers; and one that involves and gives back to the community.”

The event will go from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Small Pavilion at Stewart Park. The carousel will be free all day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A rain date is planned for Thursday. The event is free and open to the public. Visit the Facebook page for more information.
