UPDATE (10:22 p.m.) — The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office said missing Gionna Harter has been found safe.

The Amber Alert issued at 2:11 p.m. Thursday was canceled around 8:40 p.m.

The New York State Police said on Twitter, “The child was located safely.”

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. — Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a 1-month-old child who may be in danger.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for Gionna Harter, an infant with short black hair and brown eyes. She is about 18 inches long and weighs nine pounds.

The sheriff’s office is investigating a child abduction that took place at about 5 a.m. Thursday at 325 Rock Cabin Road in Montour Falls, about 30 minutes from Ithaca.

The suspect is Katrina M. Harter, about 31, who is a black woman with curly, black hair and brown eyes. She is about 5-feet-3-inches tall and weighs about 330 pounds, police said.

Harter was last seen traveling south on North Exchange Street in Geneva.

The alert said “the child was taken under circumstances which lead police to believe that she is in imminent danger of serious physical injury and/or death.”
