ITHACA, N.Y. — About 300 people took on the annual Tough Turtle this weekend hosted by the Ithaca Children’s Garden.

The weather was warm and sunny for the event, which was an adventure obstacle course with options for all ages. By the Ithaca Children’s Garden and on parts of the Waterfront Trail and Black Diamond Trail, racers ran, climbed and tackled whatever was in their way to make it to the finish line.

In addition to just being a fun way to get outside, the event doubled as a fundraiser for the Ithaca Children’s Garden, a free three-acre garden with a mission “to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.”

Tough Turtle (and Tough Turtle Jr.) participants raised about $9,000 for the Ithaca Children’s Garden, which is just shy of their $10,000 goal. Donations are still be accepted until the end of the month.
