The Cornell Model United Nations Conference and the Cornell Daily Sun will be hosting the Freedom of the Press Gala on April 13th in order to promote awareness for international press freedom and support the message of organizations working to secure such freedoms.

All proceeds will go towards CMUNC 2018’s philanthropy, Reporters Without Borders.  Tickets will be $10 for students and $15 for all others.

Please join us for an evening of entertainment, catered dessert, raffles, and invited speakers to discuss this important issue (more details to be announced). One recent initiative by Reporters Without Borders and Freedom Voices Network is the “Forbidden Stories” series.

“The goal of Forbidden Stories is to publish and continue the work that other journalists cannot carry on because they have been threatened, imprisoned or killed. Our aim is to keep their stories alive and to ensure that as many people as possible have access to independently reported information about important subjects such as the environment, public health, human rights and corruption.” – Laurent Richard, founder of Freedom Voices Network

Please join us to honor the work that these organizations do on a daily basis to guarantee press freedom and freedom of speech.
