An organizer posted on social media, “Nicole’s family and I have decided to postpone the search. I promise to notify you all as soon as I can with a new search area and date when the time arrives.”

ITHACA, N.Y. — A group of friends and family are hosting a search party for missing Ithaca woman Nicole Marranca, who wasn’t been seen or heard from for nearly five months.

Marranca has been missing since around Aug. 18 when police say she was last seen at the Economy Inn, located at 658 Elmira Road in Ithaca. Since then, there have been no confirmed sightings of her, and Marranca’s friends and family have said she has not contacted them.

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Date: Jan. 13

Place: In the wooded area behind the Ithaca Walmart at 135 Fairgrounds Memorial Pkwy

Weather: This search will take place only if there are no severe winter weather conditions.

He father Nick Marranca and step-mother Kelley Marranca have searched areas in Tompkins County looking for their daughter but have come up empty handed.

They confirmed that Nicole Marranca is addicted to heroin and worked as an escort to get money to feed her habit. She often posted provocative ads online looking for “dates.” She’d been arrested several times in the past. Many of her friends are also involved in drugs and sex work.

Police have said they’ve exhausted all leads in the investigation and are asking the public for help tracking down Marranca’s whereabouts. Family and friends have also offered up a $1,000 reward for any tip that directly leads to the finding of Marranca.

Ithaca Police Officer Jamie Williamson has said that IPD is not directly involved with the search party, but said that every bit of effort to find Marranca is appreciated.

“You know, if they think it would help, then by all means we encourage them to participate in any way,” Williamson said. “It’s still an active case.”

He said that currently, the department is investigating a lot of rumors and trying to determine what may be valid.

“There are lots of stories circulating…regarding were she was last found and where she is. Those are all things that we have or are investigating,” Williamson said. “If somebody out there has information, we ask them to contact us.”

Nicole Marranca is described as a white 28-year-old woman who is about 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She has blue eyes and her dark blonde hair was cut just above her shoulders when she went missing. She also has a red, white, and blue Grateful Dead tattoo between her shoulder blades.
