CORRECTION — An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the party for democrats would be at Hotel Ithaca. It will be at the Hilton Garden Inn.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Today is election day! For people interested in the political frenzy happening throughout Tompkins County, here are a few things you need to know for the big day:

Rides to the poll: If you need a ride to the polls on Tuesday, call 607- 266-7579 and ask for Irene Stein, chair of the Tompkins County Democratic Committee, to make arrangements. The more advance notice you can give, the better, but don’t hesitate to call to make arrangements. You do not have to be a Democrat to request a ride.

Candidate parties: If you are supporting a particular political party, there’s likely a party happening where you can gather and speak with candidates as the votes roll in. The Democrats are meeting at 9 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 130 East Seneca Street, Ithaca.

An unofficial Republican gathering is happening at Crossroads Bar and Grille, located at 3120 N. Triphammer Road, though a time has not been specified. (If you know any other public election parties happening in Tompkins County, please let us know!)

Take a look at the ballot: The ballot will look different depending on where you live. Click here to check out a sample ballot from the Board of Elections.

Poll information: The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the county. Need to know where to vote? Click here to find out where your poll is located.
