ITHACA, N.Y. — Officials are asking people to avoid an area on the west side of the Town of Ithaca after a vehicle crashed into a power line Wednesday morning.

Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a crash around 10 a.m. at Bostwick Road, between the areas of Culver Road and Seven Mile Drive.

According to Ithaca Fire Department Lieutenant Tom Basher, the crash appeared to involve a single vehicle and only minor injuries were reported. Bangs Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Basher said the roadway is currently impassable as New York State Electric & Gas workers repair the line.

While Basher said NYSEG is hoping to have the roadway open by 5 p.m., there are no guarantees that it will be open by rush hour. He recommended trying to avoid that part of the roadway and planning alternate routes before driving in the area.
