Join local artists to raise money for the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes with an afternoon of dance, music and visual art on Saturday, November 4th, from 4:00 – 6:30 pm. Triphammer Arts, under the direction of Steven Stull and Jeanne Goddard, has generously donated their production expertise as well as the CRS Barn Studio at 2622 Triphammer Road for the event. Treat yourself while supporting a good cause! Just minutes from downtown Ithaca, you can take in a gorgeous view overlooking Cayuga Lake as you sip beverages, taste light foods and mingle.
Lesley Tillotson approached the Cancer Resource Center (CRC) with the idea of local artists and friends performing to raise funds for CRC. Executive Director Bob Riter remarks, ”The Cancer Resource Center is delighted to be the recipient of donations from the Art Revives and Thrives event. Ithaca is such a creative community and artists, like everyone, are affected by cancer. Partnerships like this further our work and extend our connection to all members of our community.”
Local modern dance choreographers, dancers and musicians donating their artistry include Amy Bush, Jeanne Goddard, Liz Herman, Michelle Ilke, Karen Koyanagi, Risa Lieberwitz, Steve Stull, and Lesley Tillotson. Master quilter Aafka Steenhuis will display her exquisite quilts in the studio.
Two participants have experienced cancer themselves. Quilter Aafka Steenhuis had lobular breast cancer six years ago and Lesley Tillotson is living and thriving with kidney cancer over the past ten years. Tillotson believes “that almost everyone knows someone who has had cancer, or, unfortunately, has it themselves. The Art Revives & Thrives event came from the idea that even when you have cancer, or are caring for someone with cancer, art can take you beyond focusing on the disease. Art can rejuvenate you and give you joy. And that is what it’s all about – leaning towards joy.”
Advanced tickets are available online at gvgb.co/artrevives for a suggested donation of $25.00 or can be purchased at the door.
