Updated Monday – Police have identified a man who died in a rollover crash Friday afternoon in Caroline.
Thomas Ricciuti, 53, was driving his pickup truck south on Gulf Creek Road when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curb, causing his truck to roll several times off the roadway, Sgt. Mikhail Wolchetsky, of New York State Police, said.
A passerby reported the crash and Ricciuti, the only person in the vehicle, was dead when police and first responders arrived at the scene.
Wolchetsky said officials are still determine what exactly caused the crash.
CAROLINE, N.Y. — A man died Friday afternoon after being involved in a rollover crash in Caroline, officials have said.
Police were called at 4:39 p.m. to Gulf Creek Road, a seasonal area, where they found a vehicle on its side. The man was dead when officials arrived at the scene.
Fire Departments from Brooktondale and Varna responded to the scene, along with Bangs Ambulance and New York State Police troopers.
A Tompkins County 911 dispatcher said there was only one vehicle involved in the incident.
Officials have not released any additional information as of Friday night.
