ITHACA, N.Y. – Legislators in Tompkins County have tremendous influence over how we work, where we live and our quality of life. They set the county tax rate, weigh in on issues like our regional lack of affordable housing and make decisions regarding public safety and public health.  They work hard to deal fairly with the tremendous responsibility we entrust to them. Voters should know who is running for these positions, what their core values are and what issues most compel them.

Tomorrow night, on August 31st, voters in the Tompkins County Legislative District 3 will have an opportunity to hear all three candidates vying for the open seat in the September 12th Democratic primary. Carolina Osario Gil, Henry Granison and Dave Shapiro will appear at a Candidates Forum sponsored by the First and Third Ward Democratic committees. The forum will take place at the Ithaca Town Hall located at 215 North Tioga Street, from 7 pm from 8:30 pm.  Kay Sharpe, President of the League of Voters of Tompkins County will moderate

The committee members are excited about the caliber of all three candidates and the excitement the fiercely contested primary is generating. Join us tomorrow night and bring your questions.
