ITHACA, N.Y. — Jim Dennis, County Legislator from District 5, which incorporates the Town of Ulysses and parts of Enfield and Ithaca, announced today that he will suspend his campaign for reelection.

“It has been a privilege to serve District 5, every day working on ways to improve the lives of Tompkins County residents while keeping property tax increases to a minimum,” said Dennis. He pointed out that his focus over the years has been to build the tax base, produce good paying jobs, and develop a strong financial base for Tompkins County.

Dennis, a former public school teacher, most recently chaired the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and the Budget, Capital, and Personnel Committee. He has lived in the county for nearly 50 years. Before moving to Trumansburg, he served on Ithaca’s Common Council, including two years as acting mayor.

Democratic candidate Anne Koreman will now face independent candidate Keith Hannon on Election Day, November 7.
