ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca’s own Southside Community Center will be hosting their 14th annual Community Unity Music Education Program (CUMEP) concert on Thursday evening.
CUMEP was formed in 2002 by founder Fe Nunn, a local musician, writer and teacher. The program initially began as a response the lack of quality and affordable music and arts education in the area for low-income youth and youth of African American, Latino, Asian American and Native American (ALANA) backgrounds.
Thursday’s concert is a result of a four-week summer program and will showcase talents from children ranging from ages 2 to 18. Performers will dance, sing, present artwork and play instruments as a part of the multicultural performing arts and human rights education program focused on social justice.
The concert will kick off at Southside Community Center at 305 S. Plain Street at 5 p.m. Dinner will be provided for guests after the show.
Stay tuned for a photo gallery of performers after the event!
