Update (3:40 p.m. Tuesday) — The cat shot with a crossbow in Dryden has been recovering and was adopted by a Cornell University veterinary college student.
“Arrow” the cat will go to her new home Thursday, according to the SPCA.
The SPCA is still asking that anyone with information about who shot the cat contact Animal Control at 607-319-5067.
DRYDEN, N.Y. — The SPCA of Tompkins County is trying to track down who is responsible for shooting a cat with a crossbow in Dryden.
On Tuesday, police and the SPCA were notified that a cat was shot with a crossbow on Third Street in the Little Creek Trailer Park in Dryden.
After searching Tuesday evening and early Wednesday, Humane officers from the SPCA were able to locate the cat Wednesday morning and transport it to the SPCA of Tompkins County for medical evaluation. The cat is about 2 years old with a patchy gray and white medium-haired coat.
The cat was sent to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, where an arrow was removed from its head and shoulder.
As of Friday, the cat was recovering from surgery “with a good prognosis,” the SPCA said in a news release.
