NEWFIELD, N.Y. — Newfield firefighters spent more than five hours Thursday night into Friday morning battling a large home blaze.

The fire was reported at 11:09 p.m. at 1399 Shaffer Road in Newfield, a 911 official said.

Newfield firefighters were assisted at the scene by fire companies from West Danby, Enfield, Van Etten and Odessa. Bangs Ambulance also responded to the scene but no injuries were reported.

The last Newfield units left the home at 4:38 a.m

Friday morning, the charred remains part of the home were in shambles, but a large portion of the home appeared to be unscathed from the outside.
