ITHACA, N.Y. — Two pedestrians that were struck and injured Saturday on Route 13 in Ithaca have been released from the hospital, and have also been issued tickets by the Ithaca Police Department for crossing when there was a “don’t walk” signal.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene of a crash at 12:08 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Route 13/South Meadow Street and Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway. Two pedestrians were struck by a Jeep while crossing South Meadow Street from east to west — from the side of DiBella’s Subs toward Chipotle.

Two pedestrians were struck while crossing Meadow Street from east to west, and both were transported to the hospital. One was transported by ambulance and the other was transported by LifeNet helicopter.

Both pedestrians involved have been released from the hospital, according to Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the Ithaca Police Department.

The tickets were issued for disobeying a steady “don’t walk” signal, Williamson said.

The driver involved was not issued a ticket.
