ITHACA, NY — Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Monks On the Commons has a one-night-only menu for your the big date.

“The menu was inspired by love, indulgence, and a little touch of elegance while still trying to stay close to our soulful concept,” said Executive Chef Bryan Keller.

At Monks that means the likes of the Southern Filet Oscar — beef tenderloin topped with crawfish and tomato Béarnaise sauce, and a side of creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus — or winter pesto bucatini with sweet potato, collard greens and toasted pine nuts, to name just two of the seven main course options.

At the bar, Roland Coggin has cooked up several new cocktails to match the mood, from aperitif through dessert. Our favorite was the Blue Ridge Casanova, a take on a classic Old Fashioned with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, Rapa Giovani Ratafia Cherry Liqueur, Regan’s Orange Bitters for a smooth finish to pair with just about any entrée.
