ITHACA, NY — Jack’s Grill added almost a dozen new menu items this winter: “kaboom sauce” chicken sliders, hot dog mac and cheese, even fried green tomatoes.

Ithaca Voice Dining visited the Dryden Road eatery to sample some of the more unique flavor combinations; fried mac and cheese pulled pork egg rolls anyone?

Jack’s also rotated in some new crowd-pleasing burgers and sandwiches.

Exhibit A is the Crunch Burger: all natural beef topped with house-made cheddar sauce and bleu cheese crumbles, not to mention hickory-smoked bacon, chipotle aioli and house-fried potato chips to top it all off.

On the poultry side, one has the option of choosing fried or grilled in addition to local. We thought the Baja Chicken Sandwich was a nice change of pace with grilled chicken breast under a blanket of Monterey Jack cheese, caramelized onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, and avocado.

For dessert, we tried the strawberry cheesecake egg rolls, a not-too-heavy pleasant surprise topped with strawberries and powdered sugar (that FYI, reheat well the next day if you’ve downed a few too many boneless wings to finish them all.)
