ITHACA. N.Y. — A memorial gathering is happening Sunday afternoon for an Ithaca man who died in a crash Jan. 13.
Brent D. Handy, 44, died after his vehicle struck a tree near 1651 Ellis Hollow Road.
The memorial is happening from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today (Sunday) at The Range, located on the second floor 119 East State Street on The Ithaca Commons.
Friends and family are invited to stop by and join in a celebration of life, and enjoy some refreshments, words, and remembrance. Brent D. Handy, 44, of Ithaca, formerly of Schoharie, New York, died Friday, January 13th as a result of an automobile accident. Brent is survived by his father, Douglas (Shari) Handy of Schoharie, his mother, Ashley Garry of Bismark, ND, his loving daughter, Grace Elizabeth Handy of Ithaca, his stepfather Bob (Dean) Allison, his sisters Natalie Ann (Raymond) Handy of CA, Brenda Irene Allison of LA, and Breanna Garry of ND, and his brother Craig (Erin) Allison of Plattsburg, NY, his uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Brent was the Key Account Manager for Upstate NY at Precor, Inc. Prior to this he owned The Gym with his life partner of ten years, Lara Dunn.
Handy’s longtime partner Dunn said the following in a statement to The Ithaca Voice:
I want to express my deepest gratitude for all of you who have reached out through every form of contact and sent their love, thoughts, and prayers. Brent was my partner in life, business, and family. No one who knew him is surprised at all the love and sorrow being shown and felt at this moment and forever more. He was loved by all and loved right back. There was no one he loved more than his daughter Grace, she was his light and stars…To continue to remember Brent’s life and help share his story please join us in having a celebration of Life in Ithaca on Sunday.
