ITHACA, NY — Luna Inspired Street Food is dishing out new comfort food favorites in the depths of winter, whether your happy place is chicken and biscuits or chimichangas.

The Collegetown eatery’s latest offerings all evoke a taste of home, from all over the map.

Among the chef’s favorites include a poutine burger: local beef topped with a half order of poutine (that’s fresh cut fries, New York cheddar cheese curds and a demi glace gravy), and a Mexican take on corn fritters, made with sweet corn, peppers, seasoned breading and a chipotle orange aioli for dipping.

Luna is also adding several south-of-the-border spins on breakfast, like steak and eggs and huevos rancheros burritos. While they’ve always a large variety of tacos, there are now two more options for breakfast: chorizo and egg, and bacon and egg.

Our personal favorite, however, were the fried avocado tacos.

“Everywhere has avocado, not too many people are frying them,” said General Manager Matt Cleveland.

Cajun-crusted fried avocado sits atop a spicy poblano ranch dressing, garnished with pico de gallo and crunchy pickled carrots.

Ithaca Voice Dining visited Luna’s Stewart Ave. restaurant last week as they rolled out of these new menu items, and more, for the first time.
