ITHACA, N.Y. — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Tompkins County Sunday night, leading to TCAT bus detours.
The snow, which began falling in the city on Sunday, is expected to last through Monday with three to four inches accumulating in Ithaca and four to six inches in the outskirts of the county.
The light, fluffy snow happening Sunday afternoon in most areas is expected to get heavier throughout the night. The advisory is currently scheduled until noon Monday, when the snow will likely become rain and slush.
Temperatures are expected to hover in the upper 20s until Monday afternoon, which could see temperatures as high as 39 degrees.
In preparation for the inclement weather, TCAT bus routes have been rerouted on a snow detour. Night services on buses 92 and 93 will use alternate routes beginning at 7 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively. Both of these routes predominantly serve the Cornell University area.
This is a developing story.
