LANSING, N.Y. — A car reportedly crashed into the back of a tractor trailer in Lansing Wednesday afternoon, causing major traffic delays in the area for several hours, a Tompkins County 911 dispatcher said.

Police were called at 3:52 p.m. to Route 13 between the Cayuga Heights on and off ramps, where the vehicles collided in the northbound lane. The accident was reported as “minor” and the car was towed from the scene.

A Bangs ambulance medically checked multiple people at the scene but it is unclear if anybody was transported to the hospital, the dispatcher said.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, Lansing Fire Department and Cayuga Heights police responded to the crash. Ithaca police also responded due to traffic delays into the city.

The scene was nearly cleared around 5:15 p.m.

This is a developing story.
