ITHACA, N.Y. — Sunday night’s shooting incident on South Meadow Street was not random, police say.
At about 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Ithaca police responded to the 100 block of South Meadow Street for a report of shots fired.
Emergency responders found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg on the 600 block of West State Street. The man was provided trauma care on the scene and a tourniquet was used to control the bleeding, police said. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center and believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
The man has since been released from the hospital, police said Monday.
Investigators have determined that the incident is not random, and the victim and suspect were associates, Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the Ithaca Police Department said Monday.
Police say the suspect was a passenger in a newer model white BMW sedan. The vehicle reportedly left the area headed east on West State Street.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident yet, Williamson said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Ithaca Police Department.
