ITHACA, N.Y. — After a burst of snow last month that teased Ithacans into the oncoming winter season, forecasters are saying that possible reappearance of snow this weekend could be part of a trend that sticks around.

Rain is expected in the city Wednesday and Thursday, and again on Saturday afternoon. As temperatures start to drop through the weekend, into the mid-and-low 30s, the chance for rain turning to snow also increases, the National Weather Service states. As of Wednesday, there’s a 60 percent chance of precipitation Sunday.

The Weather Channel predicts more chances for snow next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

According to the Finger Lakes Weather website, the above normal temperatures the area has seen for the past few weeks is coming to an end with below normal temperatures starting early next week and lasting through the end of the month.

While it’s possible that the area sees no snow at all this weekend, some forecasters are saying the area could get hit with several inches of snow. It’s just too soon to tell for sure quite yet.

Either way, it might be wise to have snow scrapers and boots ready if you’re doing any holiday traveling in the area this coming week.
