Update: Ithaca Police officials have confirmed that a male was shot in the leg on the 600 block of West State Street Sunday night.

According to a news release, “A tourniquet was used to control the bleeding. The male victim was transported to a regional trauma center immediately following the initial treatment given to him.”

An official said his injuries are not being considered  life threatening.

ITHACA, N.Y. — At least one person was injured Sunday night after gunshots were heard near the intersection of West State Street and North Meadow Street, an official said.

Police and Ithaca firefighters were called to the scene around 7:20 p.m., a 911 dispatcher said. The condition of the injured person is currently unknown.

The scene was cleared by about 9 p.m.

Ithaca police officials did not return requests for comment, but the dispatcher said additional information is expected to be released later tonight.
