Ithaca police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary on South Aurora Street.

At about 7:49 a.m. Tuesday, officers from the Ithaca Police Department responded to a report of a burglary on the 700 block of South Aurora Street. The complainant told police that they saw someone inside an apartment who they knew did not live there.

When officers arrived, they found Christopher Talman, a news release said. Officers report finding the apartment in “complete disarray” with multiple items in the apartment destroyed. There was also evidence of a fire and feces smeared on the walls inside, the news release said.

Talman was charged with the felonies of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree arson.

Talman was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail pending a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
