(Ithaca, NY – October 3, 2016) On October 2, 2016, New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Paul A. Dickerson, 52 of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanor of resisting arrest.

At about 6:53 p.m. that evening, a trooper was assisting a person with retrieving property from the Economy Inn on Elmira Road in the Town of Ithaca.  While there, the trooper encountered Dickerson and determined that he was wanted by the Ithaca Police Department on a bench warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and two other bench warrants elsewhere in New York.

After being told that he was wanted and was going to be arrested, Dickerson began to physically resist being handcuffed and attempted to pull away as he walked outside.  After continuing to struggle for several minutes, a Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene and with the use of a his taser, Dickerson was finally taken into custody.

Dickerson was arraigned in the Town of Ithaca Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond.
