ITHACA, N.Y. — The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) enthusiastically announces that it is offering a new event, Day Out In Downtown.
This fun-filled, mid-day event, slated for Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is geared towards the community’s older population and will give them an opportunity to spend a day downtown participating in educational and entertaining activities while discovering or reacquainting themselves with downtown’s offerings.
“Downtown boasts many stores, restaurants, and services. Some of them are new, or they provide new products, so encourage the public to attend Day Out to discover downtown’s latest offerings, view the beautifully designed structures and historic landmarks, shop at the multiple retail sites, and/or savor the meal Madeline’s is preparing for our guests,” said DIA Executive Director Gary Ferguson.
A free, short walking tour, starting at 10 a.m., will kick off the day’s activities. Participants will get to explore downtown’s historic State Theatre, visit the new Press Bay Alley micro-retail project and see the unique neighborhood surrounding these locations.
Following this informative activity, attendees will then get to unwind and socialize while they enjoy a special, all-inclusive, three-course lunch at one of Ithaca’s premier restaurants on the Commons, Madeline’s. The cost for this tasty activity is $24.50 ($21.30 for anyone 65 or older). A vegan option will be available among the entree choices.
After lunch, at 2 p.m., participants can walk the short distance to Mansour Jewelers where local jeweler David Abdulky will conduct a free lesson about what gives jewelry its value. Attendees are welcome to bring a piece of their own jewelry to this event to receive a complimentary cleaning and instruction on proper jewelry care.
Come for one, two, or all three of the events. A reservation is necessary if you plan to take part at the Day Out luncheon. To reserve your seat, call Madeline’s at (607) 277-2253.
