LANSING, N.Y. — Hundreds of people took shuttle buses to Sobus Field Saturday afternoon to join together in celebrating the life of long-time coach Adam Heck, who passed away at age 42 last weekend.

Crowded bleachers and chairs set up on the football field were filled with friends, family and people who knew Heck through his work in the community.

Some shared their favorite memories of Heck as a coach and avid supporter of soccer. Others shared memories of him as a prankster friend and fisherman. He was a mentor to many and character builder to his students and players.

His father Richard Charles Heck said he’ll sometimes remember his son as a child breaking a window in the basement and a little boy who got a pussy willow stuck in his nose.

Richard Charles Heck said, “Let’s discover those stories and remember him and tell the tales that each one of us holds dear. ”

Adam Heck’s wife Elizabeth Heck and his two young daughters, Alexis and Madisyn, took the stage last, thanking the community for their support and stories.

“My heart is exploding with everything that has been said…All of you touched him in so many ways as well,” she said.

A Gofundme has been set up to hep Heck’s family, raising about $32,000 of it’s $100,000 goal in less than a week.
