ITHACA, N.Y. — There have been no arrests after an “altercation” in Ithaca escalated to an hours-long vehicle search at the West Village Apartments Saturday.

Sergeant Kevin Slattery said officers were called to an “altercation” on the west side of Ithaca in the late afternoon. He said officers are unsure of the details of the altercation — precise location, whether it was physical or verbal — but they were able to figure out that at least one suspect involved fled to the West Village Apartments.

There, police sent hours processing a crime scene and searching a dark colored vehicle, where they appeared to collect evidence. At least six  marked police cruisers were at the scene during the search, where police stayed until just past midnight.

Slattery said no arrests have been made and no injuries were reported.

Ithaca police officials were unable to provide additional details about the incident as of Sunday afternoon.

This is a developing story.
