ITHACA, NY – A public hearing will be conducted at the Ithaca City School District to get input on the proposed five-year renewal of charter by New Roots Charter School to commence August 1, 2017. According to the renewal application, the school would serve about 148 students in grades 9 through 12.

The public hearing will be September 13, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at 400 Lake Street. Oral and written comments are sought. A sign-in sheet will be available at 5 p.m. for those who wish to speak – speakers will have two minutes each to share input. Written comments may be submitted to the ICSD district clerk at jennifer.hillman@icsd.k12.ny.us.

Please put “New Roots Charter Renewal” in the subject line. Written comments may also be mailed to District Clerk, ICSD, 400 Lake Street, Ithaca, NY 14850. Written comments that are mailed must be received no later than noon September 15, 2016. The renewal is sought by New Roots from its authorizing agency, SUNY Charter Schools Institute. All comments received by the deadline will be sent to SUNY Charter Schools Institute and NYSED within 15 days of the hearing.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. for its regularly scheduled Discussion and Voting Meeting following the conclusion of the public hearing.
