ITHACA, N.Y. — A man suffered a traumatic head injury and was airlifted to a trauma center Tuesday after he fell off of his bike on Cayuga Street.
The unidentified bicyclist was severely injured when he fell off of his bike around 10 a.m., prompting several bystanders to administer first aid and call for help, according to the Ithaca Fire Department.
Members of the Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance found the man face down on the pavement and called for a Life Net helicopter, which landed at Ithaca High School and brought the man to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., said Ithaca police Sgt. Robert Brotherton.

Authorities said the man may have fallen off of his bicycle because of a medical condition. The man’s current condition is unknown.
