Update at 5:30 p.m. — Ithaca police have said that two people have been ticketed in a Route 13 crash that happened Thursday afternoon.
Officials said that a red pickup truck was northbound and made a left hand turn to enter onto Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway. While making the turn, the red truck was hit by a sedan headed southbound, causing the truck to hit a white pickup waiting in traffic on on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway.
The driver of the red pickup truck was transported to a local hospital via Bangs Ambulance with minor injuries She was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
The operator of the gray sedan was transported to a regional trauma center via Bangs Ambulance with a serious head injury. The driver of the sedan was also ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the white pickup truck was not injured.
Elmira Road was reduced to one lane in each direction for about 1.5 hours.
Police are asking anyone who saw the wreck who has not spoken to police to contact them.

ITHACA, N.Y. — A 3-vehicle crash is causing bumper-to bumper traffic on R0ute 13 in Ithaca Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. at an intersection near Moe’s Southwest Grill at 324 Elmira Road.
Ithaca police, Ithaca firefighters and Bangs Ambulance were seen responding to the crash.
Lt. Jake Young, with IPD, said one female driver sustained a head injury and was take to a regional hospital.
The crash investigation team is also at the scene, which Young said is dispatched to scenes where there have been “significant injuries” sustained.
Traffic is being directed around the crash, and Young said people can expect a five or 10 minute delay in the area. It’s unclear how long traffic will be delayed.
