ITHACA, NY – Ithaca City School District Superintendent Luvelle Brown today refuted rumors that he would be taking a job in Rochester, according to a report from WHCU.

The rumors first surfaced early this month in several Rochester media outlets, citing “several sources” that said that Brown was negotiating a contract with the Rochester City School District. Brown did not respond to calls for comment at the time.

“I’ll stay in Ithaca as long as the Board of Education and community wants me to,” Brown said in a WHCU Radio interview.

Brown went on to say that he has received many job offers thanks to ICSD’s success, according to WHCU. His own children, who recently started at ICSD, were a big factor in his decision to stay.

The Ithaca City School District has repeatedly not returned multiple requests for interview or comment via telephone or email. Questions sent to the district via email Tuesday have not been answered by press time and a phone call to the district on Tuesday also went unanswered.

This is a developing story.
